Attention 12U & 14U Full Contact Football Players
Don't let your football season end in October, join the Miami Valley Metro and experience the thrills of playing on a post-season November traveling-tournament football team.
Kingdom Football Ministries (KFM) wants to make your child's year of football special by extending his season and giving some awesome experiences he will always remember. Former players said they enjoyed the coaching staff, meeting new friends, learning new position techniques and skills, and wished the season lasted longer. Former parents added the coaching staff was fair and impartial, the experience helped their children to further build skills and techniques (i.e. blocking, reading a defense), and the Christian focus added a positive influence.
KFM is the primary sponsor of the team. The Miami Valley Metro coaching philosophy includes character development, and every practice includes prayer and a brief Bible based motivational topic.
The Miami Valley Metro is made up of 12U & 14U (may not turn 13 or 15 before August 1, 2009) football players who come from around the Miami Valley. To be eligible, players must have played full contact tackle football the fall of 2009. About 24-30 area players are accepted based on first sign-up and most experienced position(s). Players qualify for preferred positions based on skill/physical play, attitude, effort and attendance. Players/Families must be committed to playing the ENTIRE post-season schedule without the conflict of other sports or personal activities (see Exemption Note). The Miami Valley Metro will accept up to 8-10 O & D lineman, 8-10 LB/DE/TE/RB positions and 8-10 QB/FL/DB players (12U - 125 lb. weight limit for skill/ball carriers). The team is designed for each player to play on at least one of four designated platoon units on either offense (Black and White) or defense (Miami and Valley) or go both ways. In most competitive conditions, the Metro offense and defense is called upon, these two squads feature the best eleven players on either side of the ball. In less competitive conditions, the All-City offense and defense is called upon, these two squads feature players who do play on the Metro teams. In some cases, players who do not exhibit a base level of skill/ability are assigned to play only on special teams until individual improvement is seen. Players should only sign up to play in the offensive and/or defensive position they played in the fall.
Players must prepay a registration fee that covers game jersey, game socks, tournament entry fees and AAU membership. Players will be provided with black game pants and a seven-piece pants pad set (if needed). Player?s may use their own football program's equipment with permission (a request form with liability waiver for the equipment is available if requested), otherwise players will be fitted with KFM equipment. Hotel costs are an additional cost. [In the event we do not have enough qualified players to field a competitive team, ALL monies will be reimbursed in full.]
KFM does offer a fundraiser program to help with expenses. Boxes of assorted candy bars (52 or 40 count boxes) may be purchased and sold for a profit, raising about $20.00 per box. In order to participate, parents must prepay the registration fee and the cost of the number of boxes taken, then parents keep all of the money from the candy sold. You may make plans to begin the fundraising right now!
All players must become a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). AAU is the insurance provider of the Miami Valley Metro football team.
Players may not attend practice until their fall football season is officially over. Practice takes place from 6:15-8:30 PM on Monday through Thursday nights starting November 2. Exemption Note: If a player's season is not over until after the first weekend of November, he may still join the team starting the second week of November. All practices take place on the softball field behind the Moraine Recreation Center (at the same location as Splash! Moraine). Directions to the practice field is as follows: From 75 South of Dayton: Follow 75 North past 675. Take Exit 47 (Dixie Hwy). Turn left onto 741. Turn left at Main Street. Follow Main Street approx. 1 mile. Splash! Moraine will be on the left. From 75 North of Dayton: Follow 75 South past downtown Dayton. Take Exit 50 (Dryden Road). Turn right off exit. Travel South approx. 5 miles. Turn right at Main Street. Follow Main Street approx. 1 mile. Splash! Moraine will be on the left.
Coaching candidates must provide coaching certification and/or must have coached as a head coach or assistant coach in the fall. Coaches must become a member of AAU. Preliminary plans for offense is a 1.) Two split end, single back, double wing/slot/flanker formation. Plans for defense is a combination of 4-3, 4-4, 5-2, 5-3, 6-2, depending on player personnel.
Tournament games are scheduled for four-five weekends in November.
To register, all players must request and complete a registration packet. The packet includes a registration form, an AAU membership form, parents must provide a copy of a birth certificate, and registration fee payment. Players are added on a daily basis, therefore interested parents and coaches should make contact as soon as possible!
